The Hiwassee River, one of the premier trout streams in the Southern Appalachians, originates on the north side of Unicoi Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia and flows north through North Carolina then west through Tennessee.

The 30 miles of the Hiwassee that flow through Polk County make up the most famous trout stream in Tennessee. The portion of the river from the L&N railroad bridge upstream to the Big Bend Parking Area is a trophy trout section yeilding state records in rainbow, brown and brook trout.

Hiwassee Angler is located on 30 acres of private river access with a full service fly shop, local certified guides, upscale cafe and river front cabins.
